1. What cookies are#

Cookies are small text files that websites send to and store on the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone) and that are then transmitted back to the same websites on subsequent visits.

Cookies allow a website to recognise the user, retain information on their preferences, and improve the browsing experience. They can also be used to collect aggregated statistics on the use of the site.

2. Categories of cookies used by Heila#

Heila uses two categories of cookies:

2.1 Technical cookies (strictly necessary)

These are essential for the proper functioning of the site and for providing the services requested by the user. They include authentication cookies, session cookies, security cookies (e.g. CSRF protection) and language preference cookies.

Legal basis: legitimate interest of the Controller in ensuring the operation of the Service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). They do not require prior consent, pursuant to Article 122 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 (Italian Privacy Code).

Retention: for the duration of the session or, for persistent technical cookies, up to 12 months.

2.2 Third-party analytics cookies

Used to collect aggregated and — where technically possible — anonymised information about the use of the site, through Google Analytics 4. Examples: most visited pages, average session duration, device used, traffic source.

Heila has configured Google Analytics 4 with IP address anonymisation and has enabled Google Consent Mode v2: no analytics cookies are installed before the user's consent.

Legal basis: consent of the data subject (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), provided via the cookie banner.

Retention: _ga cookies last 2 years from the date of first setting; the _ga_<container-id> cookie lasts 2 years. Withdrawal of consent triggers immediate removal of analytics cookies from the browser.

3. List of cookies installed#

Below is the up-to-date list of cookies installed by Heila:

_gaAnalyticsGoogleUnique (anonymised) user identification2 years
_ga_FG4MMCEQGNAnalyticsGoogleGA4 session state maintenance2 years

The list is kept up to date in line with the services active on the site. In case of changes or additions, the user will be notified through a new consent banner and this Cookie Policy will be updated.

4. How to manage consent#

On first access to the site, a banner is shown allowing the user to:

  • Accept all cookies (technical + analytics);
  • Reject all non-necessary cookies (only technical cookies will be installed);
  • Customise preferences, choosing individually which categories to enable.

Consent given can be modified or withdrawn at any time by clicking the "Manage cookies" link in the site footer. Withdrawal of consent triggers immediate removal of analytics cookies from the browser.

Alternatively, the user can manage or delete cookies directly through their browser settings. Below are links to the instructions for the most common browsers:

Note that disabling technical cookies may impair the proper functioning of the site.

5. International data transfers (outside the European Union)#

Data collected through analytics cookies is processed by Google Ireland Limited within the European Union and may be transferred to the United States to Google LLC. The transfer takes place on the basis of Google's adherence to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which provides an adequate level of protection under the GDPR.

For more information on Google's data processing: policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Data subject rights and contacts#

User rights regarding the processing of personal data, including how to exercise them, are described in Heila's Privacy Policy.

For any request relating to cookies, write to info@heila.me.

7. Changes to this Cookie Policy#

We reserve the right to amend this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the services used, regulatory updates or evolution of the site. The updated version will be published on this page with indication of the date of last update. In case of material changes, a new consent banner will be shown to users.
